Re­sults of our 1st open tour­na­ment for the sea­son on Fri­day

5. The Tour­na­ment was spon­sored by Paeroa HomeLink Hard­ware.

The tour­na­ment, very suc­cess­ful, turned out to be a Tui Park, Te Aroha, ben­e­fit day as all the win­ners came from Te Aroha.

Waihi Beach RSA Bowl­ing Club re­cently held its first mini tour­na­ment of the year which was spon­sored by Waihi Mitre

10. Win­ners for the day were Betty Thomas (skip), Lyn Brooks and Gwenda Tuau, they were the only team to have three wins. Run­ner­sup were Dianne Paulsen (skip), Bar­bara James and Marie Knight.

Waihi Con­tract Bridge Club re­sults for Cham­pi­onship Pairs, ses­sion 6, 1 Oc­to­ber.

N/S: 1st Merle Beck & Dave Roberts 67.56, 2nd Hat­tie Cur­tis & David Bell 54.17, 3rd Heather McIn­tyre & Sheila Cum­mings 51.19.

■ IN­DOOR BOWLS Bowen­town Boat Club

On our club night Wed­nes­day 3rd of Oc­to­ber we had a good team of bowlers re­sult­ing in some very close games. The night’s win­ners with two wins and a draw were Molly Til­s­ley and Marie Martin.


Club night of Oc­to­ber 2 — Win­ners were Peter Young­man and Shirley Tay­lor with run­ners-up be­ing Keith Wright, Joan Gill and Alan Scott.

Some im­por­tant dates to re­mem­ber: AGM is on Oc­to­ber 23 at 7.30pm — Our Open Christ­mas Tour­na­ment is on Novem­ber 6 and our End of year Din­ner is on Novem­ber 13, 6pm, at the Waihi Beach RSA at 6pm.

The Club Hand­i­capped Sin­gles played off re­sulted in first place Joan Gill and run­ner-up Ethel Dench. Con­grat­u­la­tions to both ladies. The oth­ers in the club played a hearty round of dou­bles with Neville Wise­man and Terry Wren win­ning beat­ing the other teams.

Club win­ners of Waihi Beach Butch­ery Vouch­ers were Diane Paulsen, Ken Martin& Nelsy Jor­dan, 2nd prize of ba­con & eggs went to Ken Rollo, Ann Mur­ray & He­len Meik­le­john. Tri­ers prize of eggs went to Ross Baird, Marie Martin & John Large. Marie Martin also won the raf­fle.

■ DARTS Waihi Beach RSA

Our busiest night so far with twenty play­ers in at­ten­dance, and a great night of darts. Win­ners for the night were Bill Tif­fin and Louisa Duck­man­ton. Run­ners-up af­ter a play off went to Brian Her­bert and Norm Pirika. High­est start for the men went to Bill 100 and for the ladies Louisa 87. Kevin Mc­Carthy was the win­ner of the raf­fle. Well done to all. See you all again next week.

■ SNOOKER Waihi Beach

Mon­day RSA In­ter­club — Our RSA team are play­ing re­ally well with an­other good win against Katikati RSA. This now puts Beach RSA top of the ta­ble so the next three rounds will de­cide the win­ner.

Tues­day pairs — This doesn't hap­pen very of­ten when all lead­ing play­ers scored over 200 points. Win­ner Don Keesing 232 points, Run­ner up Ol­lie Cot­ter­ill, 208 points, 3rd John Mutch 204 points, High­est Break John Mutch, Lucky draw Ian Rogers, Raf­fle No 1 Colin Old, Raf­fle No 2 Henk Post­maa.

Thurs­day sin­gles — With all play­ers play­ing close to their hand­i­caps it's hard to get a win but it didn't stop three of our reg­u­lar play­ers in the re­sults. Win­ner Jimmy Ewing, Run­ner up Barry Hunt, 3rd Ian He­riot.

Oc­to­ber 4 — Win­ners: Davie Giles, Row­ley Edge. Run­ner­sup: Ken Petersen, Whitey. High­est Break: Dave Cro­ker. Raf­fle Win­ners: Mark Aldridge x 2, Mike Mc­Gougan.
