No one needs money
The Community Board was surprised at the lack of applications for funds coming Waihi Beach organisations and groups. The Council had $100,000 in their Community Matching Fund with a total of 45 applications received between June 12 and July 12.
Eight applications were made in the “environmental” category, the remaining 37 for the general category.
$22,000 was awarded to Katikati groups while Maketu¯ /Te Puke received $28,000, with $40,000 going to district environmental projects. The Waihi Beach Community Board is contemplating removing their own grants and donations scheme as no one is applying.
