No one needs money

The Com­mu­nity Board was sur­prised at the lack of ap­pli­ca­tions for funds com­ing Waihi Beach or­gan­i­sa­tions and groups. The Coun­cil had $100,000 in their Com­mu­nity Match­ing Fund with a to­tal of 45 ap­pli­ca­tions re­ceived be­tween June 12 and July 12.

Eight ap­pli­ca­tions were made in the “en­vi­ron­men­tal” cat­e­gory, the re­main­ing 37 for the gen­eral cat­e­gory.

$22,000 was awarded to Katikati groups while Maketu¯ /Te Puke re­ceived $28,000, with $40,000 go­ing to dis­trict en­vi­ron­men­tal projects. The Waihi Beach Com­mu­nity Board is con­tem­plat­ing re­mov­ing their own grants and dona­tions scheme as no one is ap­ply­ing.
