Players came from
Paeroa, Auckland Region, Castlecliffe, Lakeview,
Fielding and Waihi to play in the Veterans’ two-day tournament on November 1-2. It was such a pity that the weather was so awful on the first day, with strong cold winds and heavy squally showers with hail making conditions very uncomfortable to say the least. The second day was sunny with strong cold sou’ westerlies, but at least it was dry. The tournament was well sponsored by businesses in Waihi Beach — Waihi Beach Chemist, Waihi Beach Hotel, Ship Shape Boutique, Ava Boutique, Michelle’s Beauty Room, Flat White Cafe´; in Waihi — Mitre 10, Beds R Us, 100% Appliances, New World; in Katikati — The Craft Shed and Talisman Hotel, enabling the committee to provide great prize table.
Competition over the two days in Men’s and Women’s divisions was aggregate nett winner and runners up, stableford winner and runners up, with a daily prize for best stableford.
