Field­ing and Waihi to play in the Vet­er­ans’ two-day tour­na­ment on Novem­ber 1-2. It was such a pity that the weather was so aw­ful on the first day, with strong cold winds and heavy squally show­ers with hail mak­ing con­di­tions very un­com­fort­able to say the least. The sec­ond day was sunny with strong cold sou’ west­er­lies, but at least it was dry. The tour­na­ment was well spon­sored by busi­nesses in Waihi Beach — Waihi Beach Chemist, Waihi Beach Ho­tel, Ship Shape Bou­tique, Ava Bou­tique, Michelle’s Beauty Room, Flat White Cafe´; in Waihi — Mitre 10, Beds R Us, 100% Ap­pli­ances, New World; in Katikati — The Craft Shed and Tal­is­man Ho­tel, en­abling the com­mit­tee to pro­vide great prize ta­ble.

Com­pe­ti­tion over the two days in Men’s and Women’s di­vi­sions was ag­gre­gate nett win­ner and run­ners up, stable­ford win­ner and run­ners up, with a daily prize for best stable­ford. Re­sults — Men Over­all nett win­ner: John Drent 135. Run­ners up: Bob Pipe 137; Tom Row­botham 138. Stable­ford Over­all win­ner: Er­rol Mil­lar 78 points.
