A man has been shot dead and his partner, who was unaccounted for, has been found. Police are treating the death of the 48-year-old man at a rural homestead in Kinloch on Thursday night as homicide. The man was shot at his rural Whangamata Road property, police said. He was found dead, with a gunshot wound, by a family member at around 8.30pm. Police initially had concerns for the safety of the man’s 38-year-old partner, who may have been present during the incident, Bay of Plenty police Detective Senior Sergeant
John Wilson said. The woman was located at a nearby property yesterday afternoon, safe and uninjured. Police welcome any information from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area on Thursday before 8pm.
