Farmer rams cows
A Waikato farmer who admitted he used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to hit dairy cows has been convicted and fined $3500. Kerry James Murphy, 29, was employed as a manager at a dairy farm in Te Kauwhata in April 2015 when he drove his four-wheeldrive vehicle down a farm race to return a herd of dairy cows back to their original paddock. Once the cows started moving, Murphy drove in behind the herd and hit them with the bull bars of his four-wheel-drive. The cows at the back of the herd were running as fast as they could, but Murphy continued to drive into them with his vehicle, Ministry for Primary Industries spokesman Gary Orr said.
