Waikato Times Weekend - - RACING -

The Levin race meeting at Otaki scheduled for today has been abandoned. The course received 29mm of rain on Thursday nightan already sodden track.

The the meeting cannot be rescheduled at Otaki in the coming days which puts the season’s final black-type race in jeopardy. The Listed Ryder Stakes for 2-year-olds was the day’s feature race and, with the youngsters turning three on August 1, time is of the essence. ‘‘We [New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing] have put in a request with the board to race at Awapuni on Monday,’’ said Tim Aldridge, NZTR racing operations manager. The request was sanctioned and the meeting will run on Monday. The Timaru club also had to abandon yesterday’s meeting due to flooding. The meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
