There are all sorts of fascinating (for some folk) details to be had in this image. The subject car is a 1949 Ford V8. The car behind (r/h headlamp and a bit of grille) is a 1947/48 Ford V8 Super De Luxe. On the day, Fords win the numbers with six certain out of eleven vehicles.

We think the ‘T’ prefix on the number plate indicated a taxi. And, of some interest perhaps, this was a Mooloo parade. The exact occasion is not recorded but we think it may have been just after the Waikato team won the Ranfurly Shield in August 1951. Perhaps it was 1952 when Waikato lost it to Auckland on August 9 and promptly won it back again a fortnight later on the 23rd. We have to assume the really big crowds were further along Victoria St.
