Taumalolo told to get off flight

Waikato Times - - Sport -

Tongan rugby league star Jason Taumalolo’s size helps him on the pitch, but it’s seen him asked to leave a flight after the plane was overloaded.

Tongan coach Kristian Woolf said the 24-year-old missed the team’s flight to Tonga yesterday because there was too much weight on the plane.

Both Taumalolo and hooker Siliva Havili, 24, were offloaded from the flight and were expected to link up with the rest of the team in Tonga later in the day, catching a later flight.

‘‘It’s a funny one,’’ Woolf said. ’’We all got through and got ticketed and everything else, then they decided there was too much weight on the plane and they had to offload a couple of guys.’’

The team was travelling to Tonga ahead of their World Cup campaign. Their competition begins on October 29 against Scotland in Cairns.
