Arsonists in court
Two teenage girls charged with arson in relation to a fire at Sacred Heart Girls’ College in Hamilton appeared in court yesterday. The pair, who are both aged 19 and live in and near Hamilton, were granted interim name suppression when they appeared in the Hamilton District Court. Both were remanded on bail without plea until their next appearance on December 6. The top two storeys of the school block were completely ablaze by the time firefighters got to the school on Clyde St, just before midnight on Friday. Fireworks were found at the scene of the fire on Saturday. Nobody was hurt, although the blaze gutted two science classrooms.
