Renton found guilty

Nelson woman Rose Renton has been found guilty of offensive behaviour after an altercation when rat poison was rubbed on Nelson MP Dr Nick Smith last year. Renton defended the charge of offensive behaviour following the incident involving the former environment minister at the Nelson Market on September 2. Justices of the peace David Whyte and Betsy Wynne announced the result of the defended hearing in May, in the Nelson District Court yesterday. Renton was fined $400 and ordered to pay court costs of $130.
