11 events gain funds
Eleven community events are the first winners from a newly established Community Event Fund.
Waipa¯ District Council established the $30,000 fund to support grass-roots events which help build and celebrate community pride and maximise the district's public places. The fund is in addition to the wellestablished District Promotion Fund which is aimed at events which drive economic activity.
The first allocations were made from the Community Event Fund last week.
The biggest winners from the first allocation were the Stragglers Rod and Custom Car Show, Cambridge Autumn Festival, Cambridge Cycling Festival and Waipa¯ Fun Fun, which all received $3000 each.
Pirongia Forest Park Lodge 30th Celebrations received $2000, North Island Long Lap $1500, Cambridge Half Marathon, Cambridge Garden Festival, Drome Masters Track Cycling Carnival, Waikato Ulysses Child Cancer Foundation Charity Ride $1000 each and Te Awamutu Performing Arts Festival $500.
