1. BALLAD OF BACKBONE JOE
With the final tally in place we have another Wairarapa-based MP in Parliament - Labour’s Kieran McAnulty.
Not to take anything away from incumbent Alastair Scott, who won the Wairarapa electorate fair and square and deserves to hold on to his position, but McAnulty has impressed a lot of people and seems to have quite a future.
He makes no bones about the fact that he will be gunning for the seat in 2020, and along with NZ First’s Ron Mark, I think having a vigorous competition will be good for the electorate.
It will keep Scott on his toes and we will have another voice in Parliament trying to get some action for our area. Wairarapa is often ignored in national and regional government’s calculations because we don’t have the traffic or population. We are lumped in with Wellington, but our needs are not the same.
This is not good enough. Our MPs needs to be hammering on the desks of the people that can pull strings for us and I don’t care who that is, McAnulty, Mark or Scott. - Piers Fuller A hilariously daft and gruesome tale of amurder, set in a small country town performed by internationally lauded acting and musical trio.
