1. TRAIL RIDE FOR ELI HONEYSETT
I know I amswimming against the current here, but I reckon the new Ascension sculpture on Masterton’s northern roundabout is impressive and not a waste of money.
There seems to be pile-on mentality on Facebook about the sculpture with the majority of commenters saying it’s a waste of money, which could be better spent elsewhere.
That’s a valid viewpoint, but many people don’t seem to understand that sometimes people choose to spend money on nice things that make their place beautiful.
Not all money that is fundraised or granted by trusts needs to be spent on sports teams and MRI machines.
Just like most household budgets, communities do have some disposable income, and there are many in our community that worked hard to raise money for Ascension. I know I have spent more than $300,000 on nonessential stuff in my lifetime.
Sometimes I think Ascension is more of a lightning rod for discontent rather than actual lightning. - Piers Fuller Ride to raise money for Eli Honeysett to come home. Several tracks, adults and kids, hot lunch provided with ticket price.
