Out in the community
It was great this weekend to visit Cape Wanbrow and see the community work together to pull off another worthwhile project.
Volunteers from the council, the community gardens, the Department of Conservation and a number of businesses and community groups planted 600 trees at the Cape on Saturday to add to its refurbished mountain bike track. The planting was the first of many so keep an eye for an opportunity to help at other events. See our story and photo on page 3.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Edith Wicks this week, whose story you will have seen on page 1. The fact that Edith is 90 and still enjoys being active is an inspiration for all ages.
Our Facebook page is going from strength to strength. Make sure you check it out at http://goo.gl/oEiJPC or search for Waitaki Herald on Facebook. Have a good week, Nicola
