Busy days in winter chill
Sunday was the shortest day of the year.
That doesn’t sound right – it seems to be getting colder, not warmer. And there still seems to be so much left of the year.
The weeks, however, seem to be getting busier.
Last week I attended the re- enactment of the signing of the Magna Carta, a charter signed in England in 1215 that is still the basis of common law today. See the story on page 8.
There is a story about Peter Bond who has been employed as an archivist at Waitaki Boys’ High School. I also caught up with the North Otago Community Hospice to see how fundraising for a new hospice hub is coming along.
We have some photos of the new Exe Street Craft Fair that ran for the first time on the weekend. It was good to hear from organiser Wayne Pope this week that the fair had attracted more stallholders than they’d anticipated. Have a good week
