FROM THE EDITOR
One of my greatest pleasures is listening to podcasts. If you ever sit in traffic and want to keep your brain busy, there’s nothing better.
Until now, the bar has been set incredibly high – This American Life and offshoot, Serial, are great. The recordings allow you into a story in a way that words on a page can’t.
More recently, Serial producers went one better with S-Town, also a classic and a brilliant story.
This week, one of our own got into the act, and we’ve created something to rival all of those that come out of the States.
Black Hands, from Martin van Beynen at the Press, and produced by Tandem Studios, is exceptional. The story of the Bain family murders is one that is at the heart of our country’s narrative, and this latest investigation and retelling of the story is compulsive and compulsory listening.
If you haven’t heard it yet, get to iTunes and download it. It takes journalism to the next level and is a work of art.
