World class cen­tre for gar­den

Pukeiti’s new Rain­for­est Cen­tre gives the world-class gar­den fa­cil­i­ties to of­fer a world-class vis­i­tor ex­pe­ri­ence, guests were told at the cen­tre’s open­ing in Septem­ber. “We’ve cre­ated op­por­tu­ni­ties for peo­ple to visit re­gard­less of the weather and time of year, and ex­pe­ri­ence the won­der­ful gardens out of the rain and un­der a roof, and to take in the sto­ries of Pukeiti,” says the Taranaki Re­gional Coun­cil Chair­man, David Ma­cLeod. The Gover­nor-Gen­eral, Dame Patsy Reddy, for­mally opened the Rain­for­est Cen­tre, which fea­tures a multi-me­dia in­ter­pre­ta­tion ar­eas and new func­tion space and di­rect ac­cess to cov­ered ar­eas hous­ing the largest pub­lic dis­play of vireya rhodo­den­drons in the world. It also of­fers panoramic views of the rain­for­est gar­den and coast, and easy ac­cess to a tree-top look­out over Pukeiti’s famed water­wheel.
