Aramoho’s Rush, Brock squeeze out tight vic­tory

An in­flux of out-of-town en­tries con­tin­ued to pump up the num­bers at the June round of the 2018 Blinkhorne & Car­roll Forestry Win­ter Se­ries yes­ter­day morn­ing.

After 39 craft en­tered the

May edi­tion of the se­ries, there were 40 on the Whanganui River for the 6km race from the Na­tional Li­brary Build­ing, with the course turn­ing op­po­site Caf­fray Ave and fin­ish­ing at the end of the 2km re­gatta course.

Aramoho Whanganui RC’s veter­ans, Trevor Rush and Richard Brock, went back-to­back, as their 25m 58.1s time was 84.72 per cent prog­nos­tic for their grade, com­ing just ahead of the WROCC com­pos­ite crew of Howard Hy­land, Anika Robin­son, Paki Ngaira, Nikki Craw­ford, Kelly Thom­son, and Rachel Kingi, with a 83.63 per cent prog­nos­tic score from their 30m 7.8s time.

Third was Star Boat Club’s Ricky Kid­dle, with Horowhenua’s Bruce Tate fourth and yet an­other vis­i­tor in Star BC’s Valerie Chan round­ing out the top five.
