Rotary raffle winner drawn

Wanganui Midweek - - NEWS -

The Rotary Club of Wanganui North tool box raffle has now been drawn and winner Mike Dolman is seen here receiving his prize from raffle organiser Mike Green (left).

In Late January Cyclone Gita tore through the Pacific, devastating Tonga and surrounding islands and causing catastrophic damage. Seven hundred Emergency Response Kits (ERKs) costing Rotary New Zealand around $600 each were immediately released from a storage facility in Auckland.

These kits needed replacing and to help raise some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars required, the Rotary Club of Wanganui North organised the tool raffle.

Mike Green said he was humbled by the fantastic support and especially the $600 donation received from a member of the public very early on in the process.

“It is a fantastic result which has enabled 13 ERKs to be assembled ready for any emergency in the Pacific.”

Mike added that although this was a Rotary Club of Wanganui North project, it would not have been possible without the help of BP London St, Trafalgar Square, McDonalds Machinery, Countdown Victoria Ave and more importantly the thousands of people who bought tickets.
