Harness retro vacation vibes as temperatures finally heat up
Is it too early to think about summer resort wear? Probably. But there’s much to look forward to in the new season as designers have us thinking about idyllic jaunts to the seaside, preferably somewhere tropical where there’s a tiki bar and a cocktail menu nearby. While tropical prints and saturated brights are ubiquitous as temperatures start to climb, have fun with mid-century-inspired silhouettes and accessories for a sense of irreverence and whimsy. It’s an opportunity to delve into resort-inspired dressing with a little kick. A camp-collared short-sleeved shirt with a fun print, for example, is the perfect throw-on all-rounder. Worn with tidy shorts and a relaxed blazer for work, the classic Hawaiian shirt also serves just as well tucked into a full skirt and sandals for outdoor events. After all, a suitable wardrobe that’s carefree and print-heavy will get you in the right mood whether your lounging by the pool or attempting a lambada during happy hour. Dan Ahwa
