Women's World Cup, today/ Wednesday 9.28pm. Men, England v South Africa, tomorrow/ Tuesday 3.58am/ 1.28am.

After the limp effort by the Black Caps at the Champions Trophy, the White Ferns step up to chase World Cup glory. First played in 1973, Australia have dominated, winning six times. England ( two) and New Zealand, with that nail- biting four- run win over Australia in 2000 in Christchurch, are the other winners. Kiwi opener Debbie Hockley still holds the record for the most runs scored ( 1501). There’s a great format for this tournament being hosted by the English for the third time. All teams play each other in a round- robin, with the top four through to the semifinals before the July 3 final at Lord's. The Ferns open their campaign tonight at Bristol against Sri Lanka and face South Africa second- up on Wednesday at Derby's County Ground. Then follow Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, England and India. England's men face South Africa in the second and third T20 internationals at Taunton tomorrow and in Cardiff on Tuesday.
