Weekend Herald - - WHAT’S ON -

NFL, Friday 1.15pm.

It is one of the more bitter rivalries in the NFL and there’s always plenty at stake when the Chiefs and Raiders clash. They first met in September 1960. The Chiefs, then known as the Dallas Texans, beat the Oakland Raiders 34- 16. The Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963, while from 1982- 94, the Raiders were the Los Angeles Raiders. The Chiefs have now won 62, the Raiders 52, with two games tied, in 1970 and 1971. Four games since have gone to OT. They have met three times in post- season. They last met in August 2016 when, in front of 75,000 fans at the Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs won 21- 13. Given their start to this season — winning five- from- five to shoot clear at the top of the AFC West — the Chiefs will be looking to cement their position. They were the only team in the eight divisions across the two conferences to win their opening five games. Oakland had a two- and- three start to sit third behind the Chiefs, with just the LA Chargers below them. For this game, the first in week seven, the Raiders are at home at the Oakland Coliseum.
