Judge him on his skills

-

World Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is brushing aside his name being linked with the “Paradise Papers” tax avoidance bruhaha, and says he is instead focusing on this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

This in spite of the fact that he has already sown up the world championship title.

“I am solely focused on the race this weekend, and we have two races to go. That doesn’t distract me from my core values and what I am here to do,” he said this week amid revelations in the papers that he avoided paying more than $4 million in taxes for a private jet.

His lawyers pointed out that registering a jet in the tax haven of the Isle of Man is legal.

The controversy highlights Hamilton’s lavish and often flamboyant lifestyle, although it is obvious he is not the first Formula One star to take advantage of international tax laws.

Monaco has been the chosen abode for many drivers, not always because of its climate and location on the map.

This is Hamilton’s fourth Formula One world championship title, and that performance should have silenced those who get hung-up on his appearance, his clothes or his lifestyle.
