Train staff tribute

Weekend Herald - - Viewpoints -

I had the misfortune to be in the leading carriage of the train which derailed. I want to pay tribute to the train staff, AT and Britomart staff who were brilliant in handling the situation.

We were kept informed throughout and the evacuation of the train was carried out calmly, expertly and without incident. I do wonder where the figure of 33 passengers came from, there were about that many in the first carriage and I would estimate at least 100 on the rest of the train. Warren Drake, Orakei.
