In principle I don’t have an issue with the taxpayer giving film producers a tax break to keep them making films here. But why can’t it be seen as a risk or venture type of capital investment? Then if the film makes a profit over a certain level the taxpayer is paid back, and if it makes squillions like the James Cameron and Peter Jackson films appear to make, we get a return on investment.
