Glen Eden Community Patrol is holding a public meeting on February 20, after a stranger approached a 12-year-old child and asked her to get in his car outside of Glen Eden Intermedia­te on February 3. The meeting will be held at the Glen Eden RSA at 6pm.

STAY SAFE IN THE CITY

A safe place for late night innercity revellers is returning. The Safe Zone at lower Queen Street will be back for Friday and Saturday nights for four weeks from February 24. ‘‘The Safe Zone is a safe place for people who may have consumed alcohol or drugs and may be in need of medical attention, hydration, and support,’’ a council press release said. Red Frogs NZ and St John will be at the zone from 10pm to 4am. The safe zone will also operate on March 1 and 2 – during student orientatio­n week.

CONTRACEPT­IVE PILL

New Zealand women will soon have access to the oral contracept­ive pill in their local pharmacy following a positive recommenda­tion by the Medicines Classifica­tion Committee to the Minister of Health. Trained pharmacist­s will now be able to to dispense oral contracept­ives to women who have, for the past three years, had to have them prescribed by a medical practition­er.
