Se­le­sele is on the run after es­cape

Auck­land po­lice are hunt­ing a pris­oner who es­caped from Cor­rec­tions cus­tody while at­tend­ing a fu­neral.

Lusitino Se­le­sele, 41, was on com­pas­sion­ate tem­po­rary es­cort from Spring Hill Cor­rec­tions Fa­cil­ity last Thurs­day when he es­caped.

De­tec­tive Se­nior Sergeant Roger Small from Waitem­ata Po­lice said Se­le­sele was be­lieved to be in the Waitakere area.

He was also be­lieved with his part­ner, Jac­inta Sale.

Sale had two war­rants for her ar­rest for driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied.

Se­le­sele was de­scribed as a Pa­cific Is­lan­der, 182cm tall and of large build.

Sale was de­scribed as a fe­male Pa­cific Is­lan­der, about 178cm tall and of medium build.

The pair were thought to be driv­ing a white Holden Combo van, reg­is­tra­tion CYN814.
