PINK RIBBON APPEAL
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is asking Kiwis to support the Pink Ribbon Appeal on October 13 and 14. Collectors will be out with their pink buckets throughout the country raising money for vital research into new targeted treatments, medical equipment for hospitals, life-saving awareness and education programmes. Money raised will also help support women going through breast cancer. Eight women every day are diagnosed, and one in nine will be diagnosed in their lifetime.

Social media site Neighbourly has reached 500,000 members as of 6.56pm on October 4. Of those members, 22,436 are west Aucklanders. The biggest neighbourhoods in the west are Henderson with 2873 members, Avondale with 2288, Titirangi with 2432 and Massey with 2041. The company was started in 2014 and enables members to share advice, plan events, find employment and lost pets, discuss community issues and more.
