A man has died after a shooting in the early hours of November 4. Police said they were speaking to witnesses after the man died of gunshot wounds to the head, in Blockhouse Bay, about 1.10am. Police were treating the scene as ‘‘unexplained’’, and said they were not looking for anyone in relation to the incident.
A new walkway has opened in Titirangi. The Little Muddy Creek Walkway was now complete from Grendon Rd in Titirangi to Woodlands Park Rd, Waita¯kere Ranges Local Board member Neil Henderson said. The walkway cost the board $203,258 and was officially opened on November 2.

With summer approaching, the council is putting all information on water quality, tide times, rips, wind direction and wind speed on a new website. Safeswim will provide real-time information of about 84 of Auckland’s beaches this summer. Beaches patrolled by Surf Lifesaving Northern Region will display daily a freestanding sign indicating water quality and safety. Visit safeswim.org.nz before you swim.
Nominations are open for Colour Your Community – a campaign inviting members and community organisations to win paint for an area in their community that needs a makeover. The initiative offers six prizes of up $1000 worth of Resene paints, wood stains and accessories. Current applications include plans for a ‘‘rainbowfence’’ to brighten up a playcentre and a town hall in need of a facelift. Five winning entries will be selected by a panel with a further handful picked as finalists for the People’s Choice Award. Nominations close on November 16.
