Family-friendly gastropub open
Families and concert-goers have another restaurant option in West Auckland.
Gastropub Good Home recently opened its sixth Auckland location on Lincoln Rd, Henderson, replacing Bar 159.
It is near the motorway, The Trusts Arena, Te Pai netball courts and accommodation at Lincoln Green.
Venue manager Steve D’Arcy said it was just what West Auckland needed.
‘‘It feels homely, it’s got a nice warm atmosphere, it’s got a familyfriendly, female-friendly, food oriented, gastro modern offering.’’
To push its family-oriented feel, the venue had a children’s area.
D’Arcy said this was fitted out with Scrabble, Connect Four, toys and a television.
A key focus for Good Home was to have customers feel like they were at home when they came in, D’Arcy said.
‘‘We’re not just a restaurant, we’re not just a pub. We haven’t limited ourselves to any one genre of client or customer-base and that’s the beauty of it,’’ he said.
It also gave locals the option to stay closer to home instead of travelling to the city for a night out.
D’Arcy said the new eatery was keeping in line with the way hospitality was heading.
The Good Home concept had been ‘‘tried and tested’’ and would still be relevant in 10 years time, he said.
Good Home’s general manager for hospitality Guy Randall said he believed home was best described as a feeling of comfort.
‘‘[It’s] the place you can finally let out your breath, relax, unwind and be at ease,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve aimed to create this at Good Home Lincoln Road by fashioning spaces that make you feel at ease for you to call your own.’’
Good Home on Lincoln Rd is open seven-days-a-week from 11am until late.
