Whanganui Chronicle - - News -

Kiwis Against Seabed Mining (KASM), Ngāti Ruanui, Ngā Rauru, Forest & Bird, the Taranaki/Whanganui Conservation Board and fisheries groups all want to be involved in an Appeal Court case as mining company Trans-Tasman Resources seeks to mine iron-sand in the South Taranaki Bight. Later this month the court will decide whether there is enough public interest for the case in go ahead. If it does it will probably be heard next year, KASM chairwoman Cindy Baxter says. Her group is appealing for donations to help pay court and legal costs.
