An over­view of Whanga¯ rei from the Western Hills, 1908. Weaver’s val­ley farm is promi­nently dis­played through the val­ley. The “Val­ley Farm” owned by E. O. Weaver, was the site of a num­ber of sports which were given use of the prop­erty, free of charge, un­til they be­came es­tab­lished and could af­ford play­ing ar­eas of their own. Th­ese in­cluded lawn ten­nis, rugby, golf and cricket. The area was also well know for its col­lec­tion of flow­ers and trees and was con­sid­ered a show piece of the district.
