An overview of Whanga¯ rei from the Western Hills, 1908. Weaver’s valley farm is prominently displayed through the valley. The “Valley Farm” owned by E. O. Weaver, was the site of a number of sports which were given use of the property, free of charge, until they became established and could afford playing areas of their own. These included lawn tennis, rugby, golf and cricket. The area was also well know for its collection of flowers and trees and was considered a show piece of the district.
