Wasteful spending

Whangarei Report - - NEWS / OPINION -

The wasteful spending of $25,000+ on development of a new logo for the Whangārei District Council was incomprehensible. To waste that much money when there are homeless people sleeping on the streets goes beyond belief and is yet another case of spending ratepayer money on “wants” not “needs”.

Why do public service facilities have this sudden desire to “rebrand” at exorbitant costs? This logo would not be recognisable as a stand-alone design without the text. The council staff, facilities and venue is well known and has been in Whangārei for more than a century. There is so many more practical uses for that $25,000+ that would have brightened the lives of our most vulnerable citizens.
