GEORGE & AMAL’S DOUBLE JOY

Mum and Dad are over the moon with joy

Woman’s Day (NZ) - - What A Week! -

He was once Hollywood’s eternal bachelor, who swore that marriage and babies were not for him. But fast forward a few years and George Clooney has just become the happiest man alive – with the arrival of twin babies with his lawyer wife Amal.

The overjoyed couple, who wed in 2014, welcomed little Ella and Alexander into the world on June 6, and announced the happy news via a statement through their spokesman. “This morning, Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days,” it said light-heartedly.

After several nights in hospital, the new parents are now settling in as a family of four at their $20 million mansion in rural Berkshire – and our source says they just can’t stop smiling as they marvel at their bundles.

“They’re on cloud nine,” says the insider. “Amal was incredibly calm before the birth and as soon as she laid eyes on her babies, she was overwhelmed with emotion. She’s just crying happy tears all the time. And George is completely smitten. He’s barely left Amal and the babies – cooing over them and taking hundreds of pictures, which he’s been sending to family and friends. He’s bursting with pride.”

Just hours after the birth at the $16,000-a-night Kensington Wing of London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, George’s proud father Nick, 83, revealed he had already met the twins over Skype. Praising his daughter-in-law as a “superwoman,” Nick said the babies appeared to have George’s nose. “They’re gorgeous. The babies are beautiful, of course.”

And Amal’s mum Baria Alamuddin, who was at her daughter’s side for the birth, also spoke out, saying, “It was a beautiful delivery. Everything went well, the babies are beautiful and doing well.”

The Clooney twins, Baria (right) was by Amal’s side as she delivered Ella and Alexander at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. according to our source, look just like their parents – with Alexander taking after George and Ella bearing a close resemblance to her mum. “Both of them have beautiful dark features,” reports the insider. “George is delighted he has a doppelgänger. He’s been making collages with his own baby photos and sending them to all his friends!”

Lovestruck

And George, 56, is said to have told pals that seeing his wife become a mother is the best thing to ever have happened to him. Soon after the birth, he gifted her a $400,000 “push present” – a pearl necklace, which is the June birth stone, surrounded with diamonds.

He is said to have had it especially created by Lebanese jewellery designer Chatila, who designed the earrings Amal, 39, wore at their spectacular Venice wedding.

“George has been gushing about how he didn’t think his love for Amal could get any stronger, but watching her give birth to the twins made his heart burst,” tells the source.

Now they’re back at home, the Ocean’sEleven star has ensured that Amal will get as much help as possible. They’ve

hired a huge team of live-in staff, including two baby nurses for the nights, two nannies for

the daytime and a lactation specialist to be on hand to help Amal with breastfeeding. “Amal and George want to be hands-on parents, but having twins is no easy task – so they’re calling in a big team. They even have a specialist baby masseuse on hand to help with calming the twins.”

Welcome party!

And a delighted George is planning a “welcome to the world” party in several months’ time, when they take the twins to Los Angeles to introduce them to family and friends. The babies may be just a week old, but already they’ve been lavished with gifts from some of the world’s biggest superstars. And it’s expected that George’s best mates Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber will be made godparents.

“Within hours of the twins’ arrival, incredible gifts started pouring in,” says the insider. “Cindy and Rande sent a luxury hamper filled with designer clothes and 24-carat gold identity bracelets, and Brad Pitt has designed a sculpture for George and Amal’s LA home to celebrate the twins’ arrival. Their home is awash with enormous bouquets from people all around the world.”d.”

Since marrying Amal three ree years ago, George’s life has undergone an enormous change. And reports suggest t it’s likely to change further with h the e news he’s stepping away from m acting to concentrate on being ng a dad. “George feels very strongly gly that he wants to be around for or every second of his children’ss lives and he’s more than happy py to be a stay-at-home dad. Amal is likely to return to work fairly soon but she feels completely calm about this, given George is so devoted,” says our source. e. “They just couldn’t be any happier now they have their dream family. It’s given them the happy ending they’ve both always dreamt of.
