WHAT IS IT? Viewed as the gold standard in anti-ageing lasers, Fraxel is perfect for those over 40. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, and can treat sun damage, pigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps to reduce acne scars and firm up skin. An additional Omnilux light treatment aids the healing process.

PAIN FACTOR: A topical anaesthetic is applied before the procedure, so pain is minimal, described as more of a “prickling” sensation. Cold air is also applied throughout the treatment, which helps to combat the heat skin generates.

DOWNTIME: Minimal. It’s common to experience a sunburnt feeling afterwards, and some people have mild swelling and puffiness for two to three days. Booking treatment on a Friday is advised to minimise downtime from work commitments.

RESULTS: Smoother, younger, fresher-looking skin with improved tone and texture. Results will be visible within a week and skin will progressively improve over the next few months as the healing process continues.

COST: About Face in Auckland offers a course of three Fraxel and three Omnilux treatments at a total cost of $2700, with payment plans available.
