MAIN BEDROOM & ENSUITE
An audacious plan to rearrange the top floor to create a master bedroom and ensuite that spanned the full width of the house almost paid off in week four, with the girls coming second at judging. The team designed a bedroom that made the most of floor-to-ceiling views of Auckland city with a custom blueand-copper wallpaper feature as a backdrop. His-and-hers corridors lead to a wardrobe and split bathroom area decorated in a combination of dark marble and textured white tiles that impressed the judges, who liked the quality of the fixtures and finishings. However, they questioned the ergonomics of the space as a whole and said the bedroom area should have been bigger in comparison to the bathroom. But the team remained proud of their rejigged layout. “We know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea,” says Yanita, “but we think it’s a great space.”
Create a built-in bedhead that extends all the way up the wall by decorating both bedhead and wall in a statement wallpaper or paint colour.
