Mil­lions of Nige­rian on­line shop­pers were gripped with ex­cite­ment on the first day of the Ju­mia Black Fridays cam­paign, which kicked off 12am Fri­day morn­ing (Novem­ber 2, 2018) as many waited un­til mid­night to shop their favourite prod­ucts at up to 80% dis­count. This had a pos­i­tive traf­fic im­pact on the Ju­mia web­site and mo­bile App which peaked barely 3 hours after the plat­forms were opened to Nige­ri­ans to start shop­ping.

Juliet Anammah, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Ju­mia, who dis­closed this in a press state­ment, stated that this year’s ‘Black Fridays’ will mark the first time the Ju­mia web­site and App will ex­pe­ri­ence such an in­cred­i­bly high num­ber of vis­its barely 3 hours after the cam­paign was launched on both plat­forms.

She at­trib­uted the pos­i­tive de­vel­op­ment to the ex­cit­ing deals, flash sales and trea­sure hunts avail­able on both plat­forms on the first day of the com­pany’s Black Fridays cam­paign.

“Ju­mia is a trend set­ter, we got every­one in Nige­ria talk­ing about ‘Black Fri­day’ and trend­ing on­line after we opened the plat­forms to our customers, and the search traf­fic was at its peak un­like any other time in the his­tory of our ‘Black Fri­day’ cam­paigns. This is a good in­di­ca­tion that Ju­mia is syn­ony­mous with ‘Black Fri­day,’ and we have whet the ap­petites of Nige­ri­ans to­wards this cam­paign,” Anammah added.

Ju­mia will be re­ward­ing its customers with N1,000 shop­ping voucher on its so­cial me­dia plat­forms for be­ing part of this his­toric launch and re­main­ing pa­tient when the plat­forms were at their busiest.

“You stayed awake and made this our big­gest launch ever. We’re giv­ing you a gift of N1K voucher this morn­ing on our so­cial me­dia pages for be­ing part of this his­toric launch. Thank you for your loy­alty and your pa­tience while our store was at its busiest,” said Olamide Amosu, head, en­gage­ment mar­ket­ing, Ju­mia Nige­ria.

Over 30,000 ven­dors are par­tic­i­pat­ing in this year’s Ju­mia ‘Black Fridays’ cam­paign, com­pared to over 10,000 last year. Some of the top ven­dors in­clude Bi­na­tone, HP, In­tel, Sam­sung, Syinix, Suregifts and many more.

Ma­jor­ity of the ex­cit­ing and mouth-wa­ter­ing deals would be on Ju­mia till the 30th of Novem­ber with ex­tra flash sales, dis­counts and free vouch­ers on the Ju­mia App ev­ery Fri­day in Novem­ber, that is 9th, 6th, 23rd, and 30th.
