Monetised food

Daily Trust - - NEWS -

It seems that the some of the delegates are not satisfied with their allowances. They expect to receive a total of N8.8 million for the 12-week period.

The other day, some of them publicly requested for allowances for their drivers, personal assistants, security details, among others. And when they were asked to submit names of their aides for accreditation, some of them sent up to 10 names.

This reporter gathered that some of the delegates are now requesting the secretariat to monetise their food as it is done with accommodation and transport.

An official said they complained about the quality of the meal served, and perhaps the quantity also.

A plate costs about N4,000 each. And the secretariat had employed the services of a fivestar hotel to cater for the 491 delegates. Unlike the earlier days of the conference where over 700 people ate, leaving some delegates hungry, entrance into the lunch hall is now restricted to delegates only. You now have to display your delegate tag before you are allowed in, thus shutting out drivers, aides, journalists and security personnel.
