Police nab 40 with arms
The police in Sokoto have arrested 40 suspected persons with dangerous weapons at various locations within Sokoto metropolis. It would be recalled that the state police command recently set up a special squad to deal with miscreants.
Addressing journalists in Sokoto yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Shuaibu Gambo, said 23 of the 40 suspects have been charged to court while 17 are under further investigation. He said the arrests were made sequel to the establishment of the special squad to curb thuggery and other crimes being committed under the guise of being party supporters.
“I am sounding a note of warning to miscreants that their time is up, they should not allow themselves to be used by some elements because anybody caught in this process will be dealt with in accordance with the law”, the commissioner said.
