Cattle dealers suspend trade over killing of members
Cattle dealers say they are suspending trade to the southern part of the country over the alleged killing of their members in Benue State.
Chairman of the Gombe Cattle Dealers Association, Alhaji Yahuza Yusuf, said yesterday in a news conference in Bauchi that their truck loaded with cattle was blocked by hoodlums in Kwayawa village in Benue State where they burnt the truck and killed five persons while three are missing.
Yahuza said their association
has suspended taking animals and other goods to the south for three days to protest the killing. The chairman, Truck Owners Association, Alhaji Adamu Jumba appealed to the Benue State government and the federal government to compensate or risk boycott of the south.
