Cat­tle deal­ers sus­pend trade over killing of mem­bers

Cat­tle deal­ers say they are sus­pend­ing trade to the south­ern part of the coun­try over the al­leged killing of their mem­bers in Benue State.

Chair­man of the Gombe Cat­tle Deal­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, Al­haji Yahuza Yusuf, said yes­ter­day in a news con­fer­ence in Bauchi that their truck loaded with cat­tle was blocked by hood­lums in Kwayawa vil­lage in Benue State where they burnt the truck and killed five per­sons while three are miss­ing.

Yahuza said their as­so­ci­a­tion

has sus­pended tak­ing an­i­mals and other goods to the south for three days to protest the killing. The chair­man, Truck Own­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, Al­haji Adamu Jumba ap­pealed to the Benue State govern­ment and the federal govern­ment to com­pen­sate or risk boy­cott of the south.
