Ije­bu­land ruler clocks 54 years on throne

Para­mount Ruler of Ije­bu­land and one of Nigeria’s fore­most tra­di­tional rulers, His Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kay­ode Adet­ona Awu­jale, has clocked 54 years on the throne.

The Baag­bimo of Ijebu, Chief Fassy Yusuf, in a state­ment said a pop­u­lar so­cio-eco­nomic or­gan­i­sa­tion in Ije­bu­land, the Ijebu Re­nais­sance Group, is pre­par­ing 80th birth­day ac­tiv­i­ties for the monarch to run from May 4 to 10, to mark the an­niver­sary.

Oba Adet­ona was crowned para­mount ruler of Ijebu on April 2, 1960 by the late Pre­mier of the Re­gion, Chief Sa­muel Ladoke Ak­in­tola.
