Hausa com­mu­nity do­nates re­lief items to Benue refugees

Lead­ers of the Hausa com­mu­nity in Benue State yes­ter­day do­nated food items to dis­placed people, who are tak­ing refuge in Makurdi as a re­sult of the herders/ farm­ers clash.

Head of the del­e­ga­tion, Al­haji Garuba Bala, who pre­sented the items to the State Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (SEMA) for on­ward de­liv­ery to the vic­tims, sym­pa­thised with all those who lost their homes.

He re­gret­ted that the cri­sis has caused un­told hard­ship and pleaded with all those in­volved to sheath their swords.

Re­ceiv­ing the items on be­half of SEMA, rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the man­age­ment, Joseph Akaasar, thanked the com­mu­nity in the state for the kind ges­ture and promised that the items do­nated would be dis­trib­uted eq­ui­tably.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Makurdi Lo­cal Govern­ment Coun­cil, Alex Io­rahungwa, who is the coun­cil’s sec­re­tary, also com­mended the fo­rum for the ges­ture.
