Hausa community donates relief items to Benue refugees
Leaders of the Hausa community in Benue State yesterday donated food items to displaced people, who are taking refuge in Makurdi as a result of the herders/ farmers clash.
Head of the delegation, Alhaji Garuba Bala, who presented the items to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for onward delivery to the victims, sympathised with all those who lost their homes.
He regretted that the crisis has caused untold hardship and pleaded with all those involved to sheath their swords.
Receiving the items on behalf of SEMA, representative of the management, Joseph Akaasar, thanked the community in the state for the kind gesture and promised that the items donated would be distributed equitably.
Representative of Makurdi Local Government Council, Alex Iorahungwa, who is the council’s secretary, also commended the forum for the gesture.
