Fin­land to as­sist Nigeria in fight­ing in­sur­gency

The Govern­ment of Fin­land will help Nigeria to win her war against in­sur­gency, Fin­nish Am­bas­sador to Nigeria, Ri­itta Kor­pi­vaara has as­sured.

The am­bas­sador who paid a visit to Nigeria’s Min­is­ter of In­te­rior Com­rade Abba Moro in Abuja on Mon­day said her coun­try will as­sist Nigeria in train­ing her se­cu­rity men and also pro­vide equip­ment.

She stressed that the equip­ment which are world class, will help the se­cu­rity op­er­a­tives to ef­fec­tively with­stand pres­sure in the fight against in­sur­gency.

The am­bas­sador said her coun­try has the ex­pe­ri­ence which she would like to share with the Nige­rian govern­ment to en­able it de­feat the ter­ror­ists.

Re­spond­ing, the min­is­ter said the two coun­tries have come a long way since Nigeria’s in­de­pen­dence say­ing that the as­sis­tance was timely.

The min­is­ter di­rected the se­cu­rity agencies un­der the In­te­rior min­istry to com­mence ne­go­ti­a­tions with the del­e­ga­tions on their var­i­ous ar­eas of in­ter­est.
