Zenith Bank league moves to Ilorin

With the first phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Bas­ket­ball league in Abuja con­cluded last week, ac­tion for the sec­ond phase now shifts to Ilorin, Kwara state where all six­teen teams in the league will con­verge from May 1 to 12 for the sec­ond phase.

From this sec­ond phase, the top-four teams from each group will qual­ify to the last leg of the league sched­uled to hold in La­gos at a date to be an­nounced by the Nigeria Bas­ket­ball Fed­er­a­tion, NBBF.

De­fend­ing cham­pion, First Deep­wa­ter bas­ket­ball club and for­mer cham­pion First Bank bas­ket­ball club re­main the only clubs to main­tain a hun­dred per­cent record in their re­spec­tive groups.

Mean­while, Coach Abra­ham Ogaba of the IGP Queens bas­ket­ball club has vowed that the Po­lice team will make the fi­nal cut to the fi­nal phase play­off.

He ap­plauded the NBBF and Zenith Bank for pro­vid­ing a plat­form for Nige­rian women play­ers to con­tinue to ex­hibit their tal­ents, as called for to­tal sup­port for the Ti­jani Umar-led NBBF in de­liv­er­ing the gains of the league to the Nige­rian bas­ket­ball com­mu­nity.
