Bauchi de­nies clo­sure of schools by in­sur­gents

The Bauchi State govern­ment has de­nied re­ports of the clo­sure of schools by in­sur­gents in Gan­juwa and Darazo LGAs of the state.

It was re­ported that in­sur­gents who have been stay­ing around Gan­juwa and Darazo LGAs had or­dered the clo­sure of pri­mary schools in sur­round­ing vil­lages, leav­ing dis­pen­saries and hos­pi­tals to op­er­ate.

But the Com­mis­sioner for In­for­ma­tion, En­gi­neer Mo­hammed Damina, yes­ter­day in Bauchi said all schools were open while teach­ers and stu­dents were go­ing about their nor­mal aca­demic ac­tiv­i­ties with­out any prob­lem.

Prin­ci­pal Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of the State Pri­mary Ed­u­ca­tion Board, Kabiru Ali Kobi, also de­nied the re­port, say­ing ed­u­ca­tion sec­re­taries would have re­ported if such thing ever hap­pened. Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer DSP Haruna Mo­hammed promised to give the cor­rect in­for­ma­tion on it.
