Jigawa to spend N836m on scholarships
Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Scholarship Board, Alhaji Babnadi Abubakar, said yesterday that his agency has earmarked N836 million for scholarships to students studying in the country and abroad.
Alhaji Babandi, in a chat with newsmen, said N436 million would be used for the sponsorship of overseas students while N400 million was set aside for the payment of bursary allowances for students studying in the country.
He said 20,979 indigenes of the state, who are in various tertiary institutions in the country would benefit from the 2014 bursary, while arrangements are on to screen more students for inclusion in the programme.
The executive secretary also told newsmen that beneficiaries of the foreign scholarship were in various countries abroad studying Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Islamic studies and Agricultural engineering among others.
