Nobody has hijacked Rivers PDP - Scribe

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Victor Edozie, Port Harcourt.

Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday said its structure in the state has not been hijacked, describing the allegation as baseless and mischievous.

The party in a statement signed by its secretary, Walter Ibibia said the claim that the party structure has been hijacked was prompted by those it described as “self-seeking mercenaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who may have sold their birthright for a pot of yam porridge to Governor Chibuike Amaechi to disguise as PDP concerned elders”.

The party said the motive behind the speculation was to stop the rising profile of the party .

The party described those behind the clamour for the reorganisation of the PDP exco in Rivers State, as strangers to the party saying they lack the right to make such demands.

“The party reiterated its openness to all qualified and vibrant members to feel free to aspire to any political office of their choice, assuring such aspirants of equity and fairness but sounded it loud and clear that it would not compromise quality and competence in favour of those who want to cut corners, hiding under the quest for zoning and ethnic patronage etc.

Some members of the party had in an open letter addressed to its national chairman, Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, called for the re structuring of the party in the State.
