FG com­mends Obama’s Power Africa fo­cus on Nigeria

The Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary of the Min­istry of Power Am­bas­sador God­knows Igali has com­mended US Pres­i­dent Bar­rack Obama’s ini­tia­tive, known as Power Africa, de­scrib­ing it as unique.

Ac­cord­ing to him, the ini­tia­tive would as­sist coun­tries to ac­cess fi­nance re­quired for in­vest­ment pur­poses.

Speak­ing yes­ter­day when he presided over a meet­ing be­tween the of­fi­cials of his Min­istry and the mem­bers of an Amer­i­can del­e­ga­tion led by Deputy-As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary, Mathew Mur­ray, Igali said the fo­cus on the power sec­tor will open up win­dow of op­por­tu­ni­ties for Nigeria’s pri­vate sec­tor to con­sol­i­date on the gains of pri­vati­sa­tion.

A state­ment is­sued by the Min­istry’s Me­dia Head, Ti­mothy Oyedeji, quoted Igali say­ing his Min­istry wel­comes visit of the Amer­i­can Sec­re­tary of Com­merce, Penny Pritzker, who is ex­pected to lead a del­e­ga­tion of Amer­i­can Busi­ness men and women, Exim Bank, other fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tions, Eq­uity Com­pa­nies and Oil Gas Com­pa­nies to Nigeria.
