‘Roads con­ges­tion killing small businesses in Ow­erri’

Traf­fic grid­locks on Du­glas Road and other roads in the Ow­erri, Imo State, are dis­rupt­ing busi­ness ac­tiv­i­ties in the city, a busi­ness­man, Mr.Nwaka Ozioma, said yes­ter­day.

Nwaka, a dealer on GSM phones, said the prob­lem was pos­ing se­ri­ous chal­lenges to most traders and the en­tire in­hab­i­tants of the city.

He re­gret­ted that the mess, which the cap­i­tal city has found it­self in, was the re­sult of the ac­tiv­i­ties of some road side traders who blocked the roads with their goods.

He said the prob­lem has also led to lack of park­ing spa­ces for shop own­ers and other mo­torists in the af­fected ar­eas.

Ozioma ap­pealed to govern­ment to ad­dress anom­alies.

He urged the present ad­min­is­tra­tion to has­ten the con­struc­tion of new shops at the mar­ket for traders. the the
