Hit and run driver knocks down wa­ter ven­dor at Dei-dei

A sa­chet wa­ter ven­dor was knocked down yes­ter­day by a hit and run driver at DeiDei, on the Kubwa-Zuba ex­press­way.

A wit­ness said the vic­tim, who sur­vived the in­ci­dent, was hawk­ing on the ever busy ex­press­way when he was knocked down by a speed­ing ve­hi­cle, and the driver zoomed off im­me­di­ately.

Ac­cord­ing to the wit­ness, he was later moved away by the of­fi­cials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who ar­rived at the scene some min­utes later.

When con­tacted, the Kubwa Unit Com­man­der of the FRSC, Ibrahim Bello, con­firmed the in­ci­dent, say­ing that the driver of the ve­hi­cle could not be traced as he had driven off be­fore the ar­rival of his men.

He how­ever said the vic­tim sus­tained ma­jor in­jury on his head, and is un­der­go­ing treat­ment at the Kubwa Gen­eral Hospi­tal, adding that the bills would be taken care of by his unit as the re­la­tions of the vic­tim are yet to be iden­ti­fied.
